Privacy Policy
We process only the data we need to issue and verify your license (and, if you buy a subscription, to sell it). The places and routes you set in Locaflip are not sent to our servers.
1. Controller
The controller of your personal data is Matěj Kmoch, Czech Republic. For questions about personal data protection, contact support@locaflip.com.
2. What data we process
Free beta
Until 31 December 2026, Locaflip is available as a free public beta. When you ask for a beta license key, we process:
- your email address, which we use to create your personal license key, send it to you, and send it again if you ask us to,
- the language of the page you signed up on, which we use for the language of the email with your key,
- the time of sign-up and the end of the beta period of your key.
The beta is free: we process no payment or billing details.
Order and subscription (paid version only)
If you buy a subscription to the paid version, we also process:
- email address,
- name and billing address, and your tax ID if you provide one,
- plan, subscription status, payment history, and the customer and subscription identifiers in Stripe,
- the language you ordered in, which we use for the language of the payment page and of the emails we send you.
You enter payment details (card number and similar) directly on the Stripe payment page. We have no access to them.
License and activation
- license key,
- an anonymous fingerprint of your Mac – a one-way hash derived from the device identifier, from which neither the device identifier nor your identity can be recovered,
- the name of your Mac as set in macOS (it may contain your name, e.g. “Jane’s MacBook”),
- the app version, and the time of activation and of the last license check.
Free-trial eligibility (paid version only)
- one-way hashes of the email address, of the payment card fingerprint provided by Stripe (not the card number), and of the anonymous Mac fingerprint, which we use only to recognize whether a free trial has already been used.
Technical data
- your IP address when the app or website communicates with the license server (including when you sign up for the beta), which we use to limit the number of requests and to prevent abuse.
Communication with support
- the content of the emails you send us and the information you include in them.
What we do not process
Locations, routes, history and other app data never leave your Mac, with two exceptions: address search and route planning, which are provided by Apple Maps under Apple’s Privacy Policy, and optional Telegram alerts, if you set them up in the app yourself – these go directly from your Mac to Telegram, not through our servers.
This website uses no cookies or analytics. It stores in your browser (localStorage) only the website language you chose and, while you are placing an order for the paid version, the language you started it in, so that the page with your license key is shown in the same language. This data stays in your browser, and you can delete it at any time. If you buy a subscription, the Stripe payment page uses its own strictly necessary cookies in accordance with Stripe’s policies.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Conclusion and performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) – for the free beta, the contract under the Beta Terms: creating, sending and verifying your beta license key and support; for the paid version, selling and managing the subscription, issuing and verifying the license, sending the license key and support.
- Compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) – accounting and tax records (paid version only).
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) – securing the service, preventing license abuse (including repeated free trials) and limiting the number of requests, and establishing or defending legal claims.
We do not send marketing messages, and we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling.
4. How long we keep data
- Free beta: your email address, license key and activation data until the beta ends (31 December 2026) and then for no more than 6 months, so that we can answer questions about the beta and deal with any claims – unless you become a paying customer during that time; then the rules for the paid version below apply.
- If you buy a subscription: customer and license data for the duration of the subscription and then for 3 years in case of potential claims.
- Activation data until the Mac is deactivated or the license ends, and no longer than the period stated above.
- Accounting and tax documents (paid version) for the period required by law (up to 10 years).
- Free-trial eligibility hashes (paid version) for as long as we offer free trials, so that a trial can be used only once; they cannot be turned back into the original data.
- IP addresses used for rate limiting for no more than 2 days.
- Support communication for no more than 2 years after it ends.
5. Processors and recipients
We share data only with processors that help us run the service:
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) – hosting of the website and the license server, including the license database,
- Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) – sending emails with the license key,
- Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., Ireland) – only if you buy a subscription to the paid version: payments, subscriptions, tax calculation, invoicing and the customer portal. During the free beta, no data is sent to Stripe.
For transfers to the USA, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or, where applicable, on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing.
6. Your rights
You have the right to request access to your data, its rectification or erasure, restriction of processing, and data portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Send your request by email to the address above; we will handle it within one month.
If you believe that the processing violates the law, you can lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz) or with the supervisory authority in the EU member state where you live or work.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. We will inform you of material changes by email or on this website.
