Install Locaflip on your Mac

During the free beta, Locaflip isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm it the first time you open it. It takes about a minute, and you only do it once.

Download Locaflip for Mac

macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Apple silicon or Intel.

macOS 15 Sequoia or later

Not sure which macOS you have? Choose Apple menu → About This Mac.

  1. Move Locaflip to Applications

Open the downloaded DMG file (usually in your Downloads folder) and drag Locaflip onto the Applications folder.

  2. Open it and click Done

Open Locaflip from your Applications folder. macOS says “Locaflip” Not Opened because Apple could not verify it is free of malware. Click Done, not Move to Trash.

  3. Allow it in Privacy & Security

Choose Apple menu → System Settings, click Privacy & Security in the sidebar, and scroll down to Security. Next to “Locaflip” was blocked to protect your Mac, click Open Anyway.

Enter your Mac login password or use Touch ID when asked, then click Open Anyway once more in the dialog that follows.

The Open Anyway button is shown only for about an hour after macOS blocked Locaflip. If it’s missing, open Locaflip again first, click Done, and come back.

  4. That’s it

From now on, Locaflip opens normally, like any other app. Next: first launch and setup.

macOS 14 Sonoma
  1. Open the downloaded DMG file (usually in your Downloads folder) and drag Locaflip onto the Applications folder.

  2. In the Applications folder, Control-click (or right-click) Locaflip and choose Open.

  3. In the dialog that appears, click Open. You only need to do this once; after that, Locaflip opens normally.

Why does macOS ask?

macOS checks apps downloaded from the internet. Locaflip is signed by its developer, but during the free beta it isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so macOS can’t confirm it on its own and leaves the decision to you. Download Locaflip only from the official Locaflip website. Locaflip will be notarized by Apple before the paid version launches.

Advanced: use Terminal instead

If you’re comfortable with Terminal, you can remove the quarantine flag that macOS adds to downloaded files instead of using System Settings. After moving Locaflip to Applications, run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Locaflip.app

This skips the macOS check for Locaflip only. Do it only with a copy you downloaded from the official Locaflip website.

Troubleshooting

There’s no Open Anyway button

The button appears only after you’ve tried to open Locaflip, and only for about an hour. Open Locaflip from Applications again, click Done, then go back to System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll all the way down.

macOS says Locaflip is damaged and can’t be opened

The download was probably incomplete. Move Locaflip to the Trash, download it again from the official Locaflip website, and repeat the steps. Never download Locaflip from other websites.

Locaflip is still blocked

Make sure you open the copy in your Applications folder, not the one in the DMG window. If it still won’t open, contact support and tell us your macOS version and the exact message you see.
